Presenting at professional conferences provides students with opportunities to share their research findings, connect with other scientists and become comfortable presenting scientific information to diverse audiences.


Wetlands Science Conference: Feb. 20-22, 2024, Green Bay

The Wetlands Science Conference will take place in Green Bay, Feb. 20-22. Participating as a student (either by presenting or attending) is a wonderful opportunity to network with wetland science professionals. Students are encouraged to submit abstracts for oral and poster presentations.

Deadline for submission is Nov. 15. Full scholarships and discounted registration are available to students. Scholarship application deadline is Jan. 24. 


Research in the Rotunda: March 6, 2024, Madison

All students who participated in Freshwater Collaborative–funded research projects are encouraged to present a poster at Research in the Rotunda, which is held every March in Madison.


Wisconsin Lakes and Rivers Convention: April 10-12, 2024, Stevens Point

2024 marks the 50th anniversary of Wisconsin’s unique lake law, Chapter 33: Public Inland Waters, which provides the collaborative research and management framework in Wisconsin. Students are invited to attend and present lightning talks and/or posters at the 2024 Lakes and Rivers Convention. Students enrolled in a K-12 school or institute of higher education can receive 50% off their registration costs. Email wiwaterweek@wisconsinlakes.org for the discount code before registering. The deadline for lightning talk proposals is March 1, 2024. The deadline for poster presentation proposals is April 1, 2024. 


Wisconsin Section of the American Water Resources Association: April 25-26, 2024, Appleton, WI

The AWRA Annual Meeting is a forum for people involved in water resources research and management. Students are strongly encouraged to present and discuss their Wisconsin-related research in any aspect of water science and policy, including hydrogeology, watershed management, hydrology, limnology, aquatic toxicology, water chemistry, aquatic ecology and water use. Up to four awards of $200 will be offered for oral and poster presentations. The deadline for abstracts is Dec. 22, 2023.
